I was prepared to spend, reluctantly, the money for the Peak Design travel tripod as it ticked all of the boxes. During my Internet searches for the perfect tripod I kept coming across videos of the Neewer LT32 and everyone was raving about it. At a third of the cost of the Peak Design I bit the bullet and ordered one. I was not disappointed. The build quality is excellent and I couldn't happier with my purchase. I particularly like the locking mechanism for the ArCA Swiss plate. It's click and lock mechanism makes setting the camera up a snap (no pun intended). Its compact folded size means that it fits easily into the water bottle pocket of my camera bag. I personally liked how portable it was for location shoots, and the battery never let me down — I only needed to recharge it once I got home. The main downside was that my Canon R50 required the Canon AD-E1 adapter for reliable wireless triggering, as Canon’s R-series cameras can sometimes be finicky with third-party flash systems. Before using the adapter, I relied on the camera’s built-in flash to trigger the Q6 remotely, but that added unwanted extra light from the camera itself. Once properly set up, operation was seamless. I also mounted the Q6 onto a tripod using a spare mount, which made it far more portable than carrying around a large light stand. And bright—yes!Are they directional—nope—they’re a big splash of light. Think of them as a south facing huge window. They do have egg crates which helps calm them down and behave, dimmable and color temp control so in that regard they are manageable.For all those reasons and cost, they just did what I needed, with zero drama—other than finding power in a 150 year old buildings.I bought a rifle case—UK customs loved that! which housed both lights + 2 decent size stands. I had to remove their top stage, which was easy.Seriously, if you need a decent “splash” of light in your package, give these units a try.
